Smooth Aster
Symphyotrichum laeve
Notes:

From what I've read, Asters are one of the best caterpillar host plants. The adult pollinators also like them.

One of the Smooth Asters got eaten by rabbits in early summer about three straight years. But from what I've heard and read, most native plants are used to getting chewed on. This flower survived and is doing well.

It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.
